5 months of dead air

Sorry that life has taken over! You know when spring arrives all of Michigan heads out of doors. I haven't heard from many of you that are NOT related to me. Except for Gramma Verna. Wonderful grandbabies! Wonderful! I did receive another picture from Tina. It isn't new or updated, but looks pretty nice. What has been happening in your world these days? How did you survive the winter? What is a favorite spring "thing" for you to do? Sign on and let me know.

December, Decemeber, Where is December?

Where has December run to? I can't believe the winter months are here in Michigan and we are covered in snow already. Brrr, it is damp and cold! But what about the winter months can warm us?
Well, Christmas cards from friends, or Christmas carols and carolers, Christmas baking, Christmas shopping, Christmas gift wrapping, giving, and un-wrapping! I have even received several wonderful Christmas emails! Songs, angels, elves, elves that look like friends, even snowman.
As I visited with a friend the other day we were talking about the wonder of nature, and all that God sends our way to enjoy each day. As we were talking, a beautiful cardinal came and sat under the bird feeder and was enjoying a mid-morning munch. He was very majestic in all his red finery, setting there on the fresh snow fall. We marveled at all the reminders of Christ and His gift at Christmas.
I hope that you have been able to find a quiet spot and reflect on the most wonderful gift of Christmas, God's one and only Son, Jesus Christ! "O what Love the Father has lavished on us!"

Victory Singer Update: There will be an Open House on Saturday, January 19, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sally Sherman's home. This open house is for all former Victory Singers and spouses. If you would like more information please email me, and I will forward the information to you.

Songs Remembered

Hmmm, what were some of your favorite songs sung by the Victory Singers? Did any bit of music draw you closer in your relationship with Christ? When you hear "California Dreaming" by the Mama's and the Papa's does it cause you to substitute "We're the Victory Singers, and we sing a victory song"?
Well, here is a quick story about one of those songs: On Sunday we had "Stronghold", a southern gospel quartet, at our church and one of the first songs they sang was "Good-bye World, Good-bye". I knew every world, and it has been a few years since I even heard that song! I did picture John and His Five (His as in HIS, not Johns!)standing around the piano in the corner and hearing John's corny roller skating joke! A nice memory!
I loved "One Pair of Hands" that moved right into "Show me the Hands of Jesus". I think it was because of the emotion that Pastor D, our tenderhearted director showed on his face during that song. It always touched my heart.
Well, leave a comment! Let's hear/read what you remember. Blessings, Pam

All Saints Day

November 1 is All Saints Day, a day that was designed to honor God and all his saints past, present and future. Who are the saints in your life, who has prayed, encouraged and guided your life in Christ? Please share about that person?

1 John 3:1
" See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. "
My person to share would be Betty Middleton, she has prayed for my family, influenced us by her loving example of Christian goodness, and continues to be a woman of the Word. She shared this verse with my Mom, and it was a precious to her and I. Blessings, Pam

We're the who?

Q: So, what were nearly 50 different teenagers doing on some weekends and nearly every Sunday in the small town of Hudson, Michigan during the 1970's?

A: We were practicing or singing with the Victory Singers, a teen choir started from the youth group of the Hudson Wesleyan Church.

"We're the Victory Singers
and we sing a Victory Song"

What a wonderful and life changing experience to have been involved in this choir and group. Our brave and fearless spiritual leader and musical director, Rev. Richard Diesler,

was under the direction of some very capable ladies:

Mary Diesler, keeper of home and hemlines;

daughters Sue and Marilyn; our musicians, arrangers, lyricists, wardrobe designers and imparters of fun and jocularity!

We also had a two fine percussionists: Phil Rhinehart and Alton Stiverson
And trumpeters: Margie Moore and Rick Diesler

Within the group there were a few smaller ensembles:

John & His Five (even before there were cell phones, we had our fav five!)

The Sandal Sisters & The J.C. Distributors (Victory Singers and local Campus Life Club friends)

Sunday afternoons would find us gathering in the church sanctuary to practice our singing. Followed by Wesleyan Youth Group and evening worship. Sometime after that evening worship time we would carpool and head over to Olin and Margaret Millers (our Youth group sponsors) home for food and fun or during the summer months travel to Devils Lake Church Drive-in.

Once we had the music memorized, parts harmonized and plans summarized we would carpool or later board the bus to travel to our singing engagements!
